Itinerary description
Terrific day on the water, but beauty and the beast. Travelled the full length of Sungei Khatib Bongsu. It is wide but narrows and has tributaries. However, toward the end, when it narrows and were were fully in the mangroves, it is covered with magical and dreamy light and sounds. One could spend all day playing around, but watch out for the tides and don't get trapped as the tide is going out.
Wind was from NNE and tide falling, which were to our advantage going, but returning it was very choppy as we crossed Sungei Simpang river (mouth of) The river was draining with the tide, and the wind was blowing toward or across the opening, so it was a bit of
a washing machine effect as we crossed. We had to stay alert.
My photos were not what I had hoped and my video was terrible, often with the sun in my face. I want to return with a GoPro mounted on the kayak bow.
