Itinerary description
Our entry point was near by the village Fresing.
Easy canoe trip with partially shallow places. For inflatable kayaks a challenge for the material. The fins had to be dismantled so that when running aground in shallow places the kayak wouldn't get damaged. Fallen trees and wood stumps are left in the river as river obstructions or river naturalization. The flow speed is not very high, so you have to paddle long distances through it, which can be quite exhausting. A cool bath in between makes the tour very pleasant. A nice 2 to 3 hour trip with breaks included.
You can't miss the exit at the Sulmbad Steinerne Wehr.
Note for Markus: There are no hippos in Styria, so it is pretty safe ;-)
Note especially for Werner: Yes you will find everywhere Buschenschänke and wine in the region, that's the reason why the river probably has such curves.
Technical note on the contour lines, either the contour lines are due to the Buschenschänken or the manual entry in wikiloc ;-)
