Itinerary description
Casting off into the River in Hoyle, Ontario it was an interesting trip down a river that was once used as a gold rush highway.
Porcupine River has many tributaries that branch off of it, so be careful as you head up river towards Porcupine Lake as not to end up on the wrong path. The North Porcupine River is an excellent fishing spot if you like trout, a great camping spot if you seek seclusion, or it's a great mid way point if you want to take a break and continue on to Porcupine Lake.
History is found in all parts of this river and you see it in the tall aged tree's and the random ruins of old bridges. An interesting rock cut breaks the pattern of tree's as you wind your way down the river. Beware of multiple logs that are submerged in the water, as they could cause damage to your watercraft, some are not easily seen so take your time.
