Itinerary description
Leaving from Hammock Beach State Park we followed a new trail marke with ORANGE OVER WHITE. At first it follows the old trail (white over orange) until it takes a detour into the marshes. It then crosses the ferry path and the big bay to disappear back in marshes on the other side of the bay, ending at the southern end of Bear Island. For most of the trip we paddled against the current with the incoming tide but got a nice push from tide and wind on the way back. We followed the trail back up to the big bay where we joined the ferry path out to the Intracoastal Waterway and back to the dock. Hammock Beach State Park has kayak slides and a hose to wash the kayak down.
