Itinerary description

The launch point is from the roadside just east of the closed Fakahatchee River launch, where the water comes close to the road. The marsh is very flooded, but paddling through some of the grass areas requires some effort. We cut across the west to the old trail and south toward the SFWMD telemetry station, and farther south to some isolated lakes.

We checked out the cut to the large lake on the way down, which seems to be rapidly closing in. See pictures and videos in View More. We rated this moderate for navigating. Please pay attention to your GPS or map.
