Itinerary description
The launch point is the fourth bridge after the Port of the Islands canal when headed east on US 41. Pull off to the right (south side) after going over the bridge and back up to the ramp., There is signage. You launch into a small cove and quickly enter a tunnel and out into a marsh
Instead of turning right (west) into the mangrove tunnel that goes to the Faka Union River, stay on the marsh ditch trail almost directly south and turn left (west) into the grass marsh
Warning - this track should not be tried if you're in poor physical condition or sober. Soon after exiting the first tunnel turn southeast across the grass marsh. You'll have to pull yourself through the grass... paddling may not be good enough. You'll notice the out and back tracks of the GPS trail sort of parallel each other, yet in most areas you can't get through the green mangrove wall between the two. Things start to all look the same so pay attention.
