Itinerary description
The launch is at the East River launch area south side of US 41. Coming east from Naples, it's 5 miles past Port of the Islands. The cutoff is poorly marked, but it's a quarter-mile past the rest area on the south side. There are a small launch fee and Port-o-Potty and limited parking away from the US-41 right of way, but you can park on US-41.
It's called "Wrong Way Lake" because when you come out of the tunnel just south of the half-mile-long lake, there's a tendency to go straight (which is the wrong way) instead of turning left (south) down the East River. It's actually a nice paddle to a large lake surrounded by flooded marsh (in the wet season).
