Itinerary description
Bob, Stan's neighbor's brother, comes down from Ohio several times a year, goes paddling with us, and has seen more of the coast than probably most full-time residents, but he said he's never seen this route before.
High tide meant we couldn't dodge sand bars or oyster bars. We saw two sea turtles (to be fair, only Mac saw the second one--all we saw was the swirl of water as it dove)--one in Sugar Bay and one in Lighter Bay. We also saw dolphins feeding in Lighter Bay. A few powerboats left the Goodland Marina and headed for the Gulf as we paddled by.
Beautiful day for a paddle. No other boats in the back channels or bays.
