Itinerary description

This loop can be an exceptionally nice paddle if you take the time to plan carefully. Mud Bay is passable ONLY at or near high tide. If there are strong winds out of the north, there might not be enough water to cross Mud Bay even at high tide. Check the tides, weather and wind conditions. Stopping at the Collier-Seminole State Park ranger station to file your float plan before launching is required.

This webpage - https://www.saltwatertides.com/dynamic.dir/floridagulfsites.html - is a good link to check the tides (use Coon Key and add one hour for Mud Bay).

Agreed. This is a very nice track.
Crossing Mud Bay near high tide is critical.
I recall being told that high tide at Collier Seminole Park is about two hours after high tide at the Coon Key tide station. About when is high tide at Mud Bay relative to Coon Key? I vaguely recall being told 90 minutes or so, but would appreciate confirmation.

Lots of wild life viewed. Grocery Place can be buggy at times.

Nice paddle. Saw many roseate spoonbills by mud bay. Grocery landing is a nice historic stop.
