Easy paddle up to Charlo Lake from Heymann Park launch since Vermilionville was closed. Launch was nice concrete, but steeply angled. Somewhat slippery when wet. No road leading up to launch, so no low slung vehicles can readily access. Good current in Bayou Vermilion, and Bayou Tortue. Lake was accessible and relatively open water. Bayou Tortue on south end was weed choked, however surface drive boats have been running and chewing up the hyacinths. Bayou was somewhat navigable, but today's paddle was not to attempt to access.
The only negative aspect of this paddle was all the trash washed in from the recent heavy rains. Disgusting, and totally unnecessary!
