Itinerary description
Paddled from Caxmbas Boat ramp into Barfield Bay. Low tide was at 7:30 at 1.2 feet. We launched at 6 am. There was a lot of skinny water in Barfield Bay but it was deeper on the perimeter of Horr's Island. Returning we experienced a Manatee explosion caused by unintentionally scaring a pod of Manatees causing them to take off in shallow water. Their movements are abrupt resulting in sudden splashes, waves and white water. This is a nice paddle route but best timed and constructed to avoid the low spots on Barfield Bay.
