Itinerary description
A little windy and wet today. I had to keep putting my camera into a plastic bag. The trip was to check on Calusa Blueway Trail Markers 10, 11, and 12. Marker 10 is at the dog beach and was gone. Markers 11 and 12 were both there.
We like to make a loop when we paddle Lovers Key and were waiting for a good tide, but this wasn't it. It's possible the strong NE wind stopped the surge from coming in as far and fast as we thought it would, and we had to drag/push the canoe a few times across sand/muck shallows. You can see this on the track at the upper end. There's also debris that they haven't gotten to yet. Maybe they'll have it open by next season. Maybe.
It rained on and off, and the wind was pretty strong in the open bays coming back under the bridge; we fought both wind and tide. All in all, a delightful day. No Sun, no heat.
