Itinerary description
Every year, we check the over 50 trail markers in Estero Bay for the Calusa Blueway. We use the launch point for this set of markers in the northeast corner of the first bridge after Bonita Beach (Big Hickory Pass - Broadway Channel). You'll usually see a bunch of cars parked there on both sides of the road.
The trail crosses open water, then goes into mangrove-lined channels where the tidal flow can get strong, and then back into the open bay. Powerboats are common, but the bay is big.
