Itinerary description

Beautiful stretch of river under really good conditions. The river gauge at Kinder was at 5' and dropping slowly - Just about right. Unlike upper stretches of the Calcasieu that require flood conditions to navigate, we waited for low water conditions here. Flow was pretty much contained to the main channel and made route finding easy. Camping is very limited. The sandbars pretty much play out just below Indian Village and you are grading into swampland. We camped on a pipeline ROW - Not ideal. Sorry about the start of the back-track. I was slow to finish the route.

Easy in/out. We have used this launch several times now. Never any issues.

Steep slippery slope to a less than ideal campsite. Sometimes you take what you get. None the less, a great time was had. There were a couple of sand bars past here, but choices are slim.

And out!

White Oak Park, great facility, secure parking. It was pretty busy Sunday afternoon. Real caution is required on the lower section of the river, there was a lot of boat traffic.
