Itinerary description
Chassahowitzka River Boat Launch parking/launch fee $4.00 per person. Restroom avaliable. Go early or late, else parking lot will be closed. Two options for kayak launching. I thought I had pics of both, but one pic ended up being my feet. One launch was a concrete ramp with plastic matting, other sand with bulkhead and depending on tide bot had positives and negatives. We used the ramp as it was less congested. Speaking of congested, this place is a circus depending on time of year, time of week, time of day. I would pay $4 just to watch the show in the afternoon!
Wasn't expecting a manatee sighting as water was fairly murky, but ended up seeing several on the paddle out. A short distance out is the intersection of Baird Creek, then the paddle gets very senic. Eventually, the creek gets narrower and narrower. Depending on tide you might be able to paddle into the Crack. We got out and walked a short distance to get there, but someone was able to paddle into right behind us. Really not much to see, but was told there is a spring and underwater cave. Depending on time of year, time of week and time of day this place could get very crowded. Really enjoyed the paddle though.
When we got back to the launch to recover, it was a dog and pony show so we headed upriver to scope out the sights. Pretty typical Florida developed waterway sights.

End of paddle. Hike from here.
There was just enough water to float your boat, buut it is extremely narrow.

Our gumbo pots are too small.
Way too small! Had one under my boat lift me up. Dan had it happen a couple of years ago.
Okay then we'll do it Hawaiian luau pig roast style on a nice sandy beach, yeah.
Oh yeah!
