Itinerary description

This was a great paddle for a Louisiana boy. Clear water is something we don't see too often. Used a shuttle service, which was pricey, but since we had never been here before needed that piece of mind. Super easy put-in (not well marked) and take out. Beautiful white sand beaches and not enough trash to mention, so nice!

Saw plenty of turtles, even soft shelled. Trip was advertised as 11 miles, and since Wikiloc is so wonky at properly recording track (even though it worked the best i have ever seen the latter part of the trip), I believe the shuttle guys over the recording.

We even got to see a rainbow unicorn!

There was a nice steady current, which made paddling more enjoyable. Easy flow with lots of bends. Most bends had sandy beaches where you could get out and stretch, take a break, let kids play, etc. However, there were some fallen trees in some bends and along the way, so you did have to pay attention. We did this trip in mid July and did not see any wasp nests or snakes; nor did we have any problems with mosquitoes or other insects. The water level was mostly on the shallow side, with a few deeper spots. But, never had to portage or drag. Would definitely do this river again and again!
