Itinerary description
Packrafting the western half of the “Waasland loop” with Tom on a fine late-August Sunday. We start at 9 am at Terwest bridge and paddle Moervaart in the direction of Mendonk accompanied by a nice tailwind. Before reaching Mendonk, we change direction and enter Zuidlede. The tailwind turns into a nasty headwind but luckily remains within reason.
After a quick bite for lunch, we continue on Zuidlede through pretty nice scenery. We pass a couple of low bridges and past “Stenen” bridge enter the wildest zone of today’s trajectory, where we encounter a couple of fallen trees.
After having paddled 16 km, we take out and hike 2 km through fields and meadows back to Terwest bridge, where we arrive around 3 pm.
