Itinerary description
We headed east under the bridge into a ten mph breeze and an outgoing tidal current that wouldn't change until almost 1000 hrs. The trip to the Gumbo Limbo grove is nearly 4 miles, and when we got there, it was shallow, and we couldn't land because everywhere was exposed muck, so we just paddled around and enjoyed the scenery and the birds. This is an interesting area because of all the old dredge piles, some of which look to be almost 20 ft. high. We did find a real piece of trash wound around the mangrove roots and picked it up for proper disposal - see pictures. Who leaves trash in an area like this?
Great paddle, and most of the way back, we had the wind and tidal current with us.
