Itinerary description
The Soil Survey of Collier County done in the early '50s based on aerials done in the early '40s shows a pass coming out of Keywaydin Island between Gordon pass and the Big Marco River, but it closed sometime before I got here 40 years ago. It was called John Pass. Ian reopened it, and we paddled through it this morning and naturally took photos and videos. Ian has changed a lot of the coastline.
Again, the tide was abnormally high, and there was no "beach" where we landed. The videos are stunning in the amount of tree stumps that dot the shore.
This was a leisurely paddle (except for one short "tunnel") - the temperature was moderate, and the tide was high for the whole paddle, so we didn't worry about bottoming out.
