Itinerary description
Inagural paddle on this section of Bayou Vermilion! Bayou is really narrow and has been known to have tree fall blockages. A shout out to BVPA for making sure it was cleared and trash boom was pulled over.
Easy, downstream paddle. Shuttle required. Launch at mile 0 is not for the faint of heart, at current water level. Very steep bank with plenty of poison ivy thrown in to keep things interesting. So many new sights on this section you have to look at the pics. Leg/back stretch and restroom break spots very few and far between. You really have to be creative. Bank is extremely steep and vegetation covered. Plenty of shade though, especially on the upper reaches.
Take out a mile 9 can be sketchy if launch is not cleared of mud and flotsam/jetsam.
