Itinerary description

We launched at paved boat ramp on river at Heymann Park behind "Somewheres Else Bar & Grill". Paddled under the bridge up river past the airport. Turning south into Bayou Tortue we encountered beautiful cypress, pecan trees and willows. We saw and heard several birds. The bayou narrows as it near Charlo Lake. The lake is small but is choked with hyacinths to the west. Sometimes you can push through the vegetation and continue down the bayou, but we decided against that today with the looming clouds and predicted thunderstorms.
