Itinerary description
3 paddlers who left way too late then had to plow against direct headwinds with a your not trying very hard current claimed to be pushing us along the 9.7 mile trek. Winds started at 10 and ended at 15 and movement averaged 2.9 mph for over 3.5 hours, prefer no repeat. Launch and landings were non eventful due to the great canoe kayak launch/landing infrastructure provided by the Teche Project. Dedicated RR facilities are non existent at both locations although natural alternatives exist.
Still had a great time and grabbed some bites at the Seafood Connection in the Berry.

Next time paddle from St. Martinville to Loreauville. It will give you the opportunity to experience the Keystone Locks and the portage around it which is about 50-75 yards.
Ralph did mention locks and another leg and it being on the list.
The plan is to do that section next! Maybe you can join us?
