Itinerary description
Very blustery day for a paddle. 12-14 mph winds out of the NNW. Glad wind was at our backs!
Free launch accessed through the campground, so launch was not too trashed. No restrooms. Launch is a concrete boat ramp with muddy banks. There were two possible areas for bank launching, a short walk from the ramp, but they were too muddy. I'm rating the trip easy as the wind was at our backs and had a steady current. Otherwise, it's a low moderate due to length.
Not very scenic, but again it's late winter and not everything has bloomed/leafed out. There were three side channels that could be explored, and we did a short detour on one of them. The one (I could not find a name) we explored was the boundary of Thistlewaite State Wildlife Management Area. It was way more scenic as the banks were lower and covered in Palmetto plants.
Take out in Port Barre was another concrete boat ramp, with a floating boat dock. The wind and current made for tricky use of the dock, but not impossible. Launch does have a portalet, as of this posting. One thing aboout the Port Barre launch parking lot. When we parked there that morning there was ample parking. Upon arriving that afternoon, the lot was packed. There is an American Legion building right next to the launch, so the parking can get scrambled.
All in all, another great paddle.

Another great commentary which gives the user a clear and concise information of what was experienced and what there there is to offer if they were to go there. Probably more valuable than the route and images.
Thank you. It's interesting to see each paddlers description of our paddles. Everyone who does describe their paddle has a different take on their experience. Put them all together and a first time paddler should get a good picture of what to expect.
I feel that is what Wikiloc is about.
I agree that's what it's about.
