Itinerary description
Nice parking area with $5 launch and restrooms. Paddle started out with a cool 63 degrees and tail winds 10-15 mph. The water was cool to the touch with a greenish blue vs. classic coffee milk. Only passed two push barges and the resulting wakes were almost nothing. Starting out the static kayak speed (current+wind) was around 2.4 mph with the wind pushing. Further downstream the current had subsided to about 1.5 mph. The banks we free from human presence and was a very nice and prominent element of this paddle.
We surveyed a sandy bend in the river that previous members used for camping. It's still usable but has more vegetation than previously. This time we would need long boat ropes for mooring and a machete for hammock camping.
Continued south, hardly paddling and had a grand ole time.
