Itinerary description
Saturdays paddle to Southern areas of Grand Manan. We left in thick fog on a compass course of 230 degrees magnetic. When we were about 3/4 mile away from Wood Island it suddenly popped out of the fog. We proceeded to the beach there where we met some very nice people that owned cottages there. While there much of the fog lifted. After a bit we rounded the eastern side of the island and eventually came upon Outer Wood Island where we had lunch. We took some photos and then headed off to the southeast and visited the fish farms and the herring weirs. then onto the South Head and a view of the cliffs and the southern light house. Lots of seals out there. On the way back we saw some trawlers headed back to Grand Manan. On the way back to Anchorage Park we ran into some very thick fog with about 1/4 mile visibility. Within about a mile of the park the fog lifted and we cruised into the beach the visibility was many miles.
