Itinerary description
8:00 am temps were mid 70's at 3 dollar 2 lane quick drop off concrete boat launch. Sides of launch have elevated grass wings for close staging. Maintained grass parking was ample. Concluded paddle and loaded out close to noon with low 90 ouch temps. Drove to nearest restaurant and absorbed conditioned air, flavored liquids and edible fuel in that sequence.
Early launch coupled with a relatively narrow waterway lined with tall tress and a north south profile created good shade lined bank.
Waters were non muddy and still relatively cool to safely and effectively deploy foot radiators. Winds remained below 5 mph. Giant salvinia is present throughout but very spotted and dispersed. Compared to 1 year prior it has been significantly reduced. Hopefully this is a positive trend.
Was not able to complete the full typical water trail route due to tree blockage caused by human activity so...after discussing and contemplation we elected the "turn back" option. Explored small side coves on the return and some of the multiple BUURRWWOW Pits. Encountered multiple mototored fishermen who were cordial and friendly but you are reminded and encouraged not feed them.
For a floating future reference (no pun intended) the Atchafalaya River @ Krotz Springs on day of paddle 06/4/23, was 8.41' and 2 o'clock was impassable beyond the logging blockage point. On 05/25/23 the bayou was confirmed kayak passable and the river was at 14.2'. I presume rate of change a factor between gauge location and obstruction location.

Still relatively cool
Was grabbing all the shade I could find. Got spooked from a big swamp finger again, I hate it when...
Dead-end street

New clear cut logging activity has affected low water navigation.
Trees were felled across the waterway blocking all boating traffic including kayak at this water level. Also testing the plastic lens potatoe camera.

The new bayou dead-end.
Grant S, this is the lat long property look up location.
