Itinerary description
Rainy Creek is a good ride. Lots of variety, mountain streams, high mountains, meadows. It is a rocky ride and sometimes the stream flows down the trail. It doesn't really gain that much elevation so it can be ridden in May. However, in May the streams are full and there is more water in the trail. If riding in the Summer it can be hot and dusty.
Lunch is often eaten at a trailhead on the Noth Fork of Rainy Creek. A dirt road comes in from Pine Creek Pass. At the trailhead there are hitching posts, a toilet, and what appears to be a contraption for either packing horses or helping people mount their horse. I returned to this trailhead in hunting season to do a little scouting (see Fog Hill Trek) and there was only one other vehicle.
