Itinerary description
A good spring ride that opens after May 15. The ride is about 9.5 miles long with total climbing of 1200 feet. The trail is sand with occasional rock. There was an effort to raise elk nearby but all that is left is a large fence blocking quite a lot of land. We saw a moose trying to find its way out of the fenced area. It is hard to find shade so pick a cool day for riding. Underlying some of the hills are lava buttes. There are also large sand dunes. The area is BLM ground.
