Itinerary description
This is one of the top hiking trails in Tavush region, Armenia.
It starts from Parz lake, leads to 12th century Goshavank monastery, then to Gosh lake.
The trail is situated in "Dilijan National park" ( Դիլիջան ազգային պարկ ) and considered part of Transcaucasian Trail ( Տրանսկովկասյան արահետ).
Here some information about this trail:
--- Here we can split this trail into 2 consecutive ones:
1. From Parz lake to Gosh village 7.2 km
2. From Gosh village to Gosh lake 6.5 km
--- As mentioned above, this trail is blazed by TCT, you'll notice signs everywhere , but they could vanish at some points, so GPS with waypoints can be really helpful in some confusing parts.
--- There are several paths that lead to Gosh village and Gosh lake, and many of them are even shorter than TCT trail, but, believe me, this is the best way to make your hike as comfy as possible.
--- If you want to do one - day hike, take into consideration, that you need to come back to Gosh village again and this part is not counted in a trail ( the way back you can take the shorter one - following vehicle traces ,+ 2km), you'll find this trail in my trails section.
--- Some dogs could join you on the way, basically they are harmless and are used to hiking with hikers.
--- The best season for this trail is definitely October (especially after mid October), when it's blooming fall here. It also started from May till mid July.
--- In summer there are a lot of mosquitos and ticks here, so it'd be better to take some insect spray with you.
--- Parz lake has become a very common spot for locals, especially on the weekends, so if you are not fond of crowded places, it is not recommended to set a tent there.
--- Though Gosh lake is more hidden than Parz lake, here also we can meet many people (usually they come by cars, not on foot) near the lake on the weekends.
So my advice is avoid weekend hikes there.
