Itinerary description
approx. 4 hours | 11 km | +550 m | -550 m Organisational information In the morning by bus 150 to St. Gilgen bus station. Ascent with the cable car to the Zwölferhorn. Circular hike on the heights, then descent with the cable car and bus ride to Weißenbach. You will find the ticket for the cable car in your documents. Your hike Your tour starts at the mountain station, just below the summit of the Zwölferhorn at about 1500m. Climb to the top and admire the views of the lake. Then the panoramic circular trail leads you on wide gravel paths around the Pillstein (summit ascent possible). Afterwards, continue your hike across the high plateaus. Over a small rocky ridge you reach the Apfelkoch and the Illinger Berg. A descent via paths, alpine trails and meadow paths leads you via the Spitzeck plateau to the hut at the Illingeralm. Return in the direction of Pillstein, climb up over the alpine pastures and complete the panoramic circular route on wide gravel paths back to the mountain station. Public transport Bus 150 between Weißenbach and St. Gilgen bus station Zwölferhorn cable car: Info at www.zwoelferhorn.at Options Shortcut Pillstein: instead of the big Illingerberg-Almrunde, just do the panorama loop and hike directly back to the cable car after the Pillstein. Alternative ridge of the Illinger Berg: Optionally hike over the challenging rocky ridge of the Illinger Berg or (easier) around the outside. Zwölferhorn summit: The ascent to the summit of the Zwölferhorn is worthwhile, but not required.
