We did half of the route, from Padum to Lamayuru. It's really beautiful.

Questionnement surtout sur le camp de Singge La. Merci pour le partage d experience
We camped the entire trek. When I did the trek (11 years ago in 2008), the villages had no guesthouses, at least no visible signs on the houses. Maybe homestay is/was possible.
There are long stretches between some villages though, for instance going over Singge La. So if you stay in the villages there will be some long days walking. We camped near the Singge La pass and again on the other side, so we took 3 days from Photoksar to Lingshed.
But maybe a lot has happened in these 11 years. I see on Google Earth that the road construction has progressed a lot. Maybe there's a road already from Lamayuru to Lingshed, or even all the way to Padum.
