Itinerary description

[EUS]

Arroetatik abiatu eta Zamudioko teknologia parkea zeharkatu ostean, apurka-apurka Berreaga-Urrusti-Gaztelumendi mendilerrora igotzen da, aurretik San Bartolome ermita albotik igarota. Gerra Zibilean zehar mendilerro honetan eraiki zen Burdin Hesiaren defentsa lerroa, 1936-1937 urteen artean. Baso eta landaketen barrenean oraindik mantentzen dira garai hartan eraiki ziren gotorleku eta lubakiak. Ibilbideak mendigainetik tarte bat egin ostean Fullarantz jaitsi eta baserri, larre eta baso artean, Zamudioko herri gunera bueltatuko da.

[ENG] Iron Ring Memory Route

Starting out from Arroeta, the route crosses the Zamudio Technology Park and gains altitude little by little towards the hills of Berreaga-Urrusti-Gaztelumendi, passing alongside the chapel of San Bartolomé. Among the forests and plantations of these hills, the fortifications and trenches built during the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1937 are conserved as part of the Iron Ring defensive line. The route continues after a stretch along the hill range with a descent towards Fulla and, running between meadows, copses and farmsteads, returns to Zamudio town centre.
