Itinerary description
Long day from Zambujeira do Mar through the small village of Almograve and onward to the picturesque town of Vila Nova de Milfontes.
I stayed overnight at both ends; there are a few options, but not too many.
Difficulty is subjective, mostly due to distance, long sandy sections and strong wind. Well marked trail and relatively well maintained, although some of the acacia groves in the second half are overgrown into the path. The surfaces and views are prety diverse. The first few km to the tiny fishing encampment of Porto da Barca are next to a road, followed by a few km of dirt road; then sand until Cabo Sardao and onward, after the village of Cavaleiro. There are some dirt roads and roads around Almogrove and a few km before Vila Nova de Milfontes, otherwise it's sand most of the way.
There is a grocery store and cafés in Zambujeira do Mar, Cavaleiro, Almogrove and Vila Nova de Milfontes.
I was glad I did the trail northbound, that way the sun is behind you, more or less, rather than in your face.
