Itinerary description
I went alone hiking to Zaghouan. My objective was to reach the summit, Djebel Zaghouan (1295m). I used other wikiloc trails uploaded by other users and made my own trail based on some of them.
I didn't manage to reach the top because I approached the mountain from the wrong face. I should have spent a little bit more time preparing and I would quickly realize this. To reach the top, as I later checked on Google Earth, the easiest ways are through the southwest and west faces.
So I started in the village of Zaghouan and set off to Sidi Bougrabine. From there, I went up the valley direction southeast. I went around the north face of the Djebel, an almost vertical wall, nearly impossible to hike to the top without special equipment. I went as closest as I could get, around 1050m high. Then I crossed a tight gorge and went through a steepy slope with some loose rocks, until I reached the eastern plains and then back to the village of Zaghouan.
At this point I was late for the bus back to Tunis and it was pouring rain so I started running during the last 4k. The bus was about to leave when I finally arrived, absolutely, completely wet..
But it was fucking worth it

PS. Here's another similar Wikiloc trail that I used to create my route:
Sidi Bougabrine - Zaghouan
