Itinerary description

Starting at the Trailhead Parking Area in Yosemite Valley this trail ascends on the Mist Trail to Vernal Fall. Generally steep, the first section to the lower fall is paced and easy to climb. Past the bridge it is more difficult with a large number of stone steps to climb till you get to the top of the fall. Amazing views throughout. The trail continues up towards Nevada Fall and then turns right towards John Muir Trail. Taking the John Muir trail down the mountain is considerably easier; although it’s longer with lot’s of sling backs it doesn’t have any stone steps. At the lower Vernal Fall bridge you join Mist Trail again for the final descend back to the the parking lot.
