Itinerary description

The Torre Salsa Natural Reserve extends between Siculiana Marina and Eraclea Minoa, where the chalk cliffs alternate with calcareous marls, sometimes covered with layers of clay. On the Salsa promontory is the ruin of the tower of the same name, built for defense of the Sicilian coasts from the arabic ("Saracen") incursions in the second half of the XVI century. In the area there are also the remains of another tower ("Torre Pantano"), and four tombs dating back to the Byzantine era.
Today's route winds all along the Torre Salsa WWF Oasis beach which starts from the entrance to Bova Marina (Montallegro area, free entry beach, but organized with umbrellas, sunbeds and various catering points) then to opposite of the entrance "Funcitedda" (which is instead for a fee) and which leads first to the beach of Torre Salsa and then, after a short climb of about 50 meters, to the tower itself
