Itinerary description

The best time of year to do this circular tour is July. The reason? Wild raspberries in profusion along the path through Beadale Wood.
There is ample on street parking in the village and the tour starts from its eastern edge. At first the route is through a field, but this quickly leads to Beadale Wood, where the path becomes narrow and a bit muddy in places. Doing this tour after heavy rain would definitely be a bad idea!
Eventually, the path meets a wide track and the route here is straight across this track into the woods on the opposite side. The path here is not immediately obvious.
Finally, the path leaves the wood to run along a field edge, where there are good views over open countryside.
Straights Lane leading to Highfield Grange is joined; this is a broad, earthern lane.
After this, the shortest route back is along New Lane which only carries farm traffic. A longer route would be to use Shop Lane. Whichever lane is chosen, you will have superb views over the countryside of Ryedale.
