Itinerary description

Woods, Winnemucca, and Round Top Lakes is a 4.9 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Markleeville, California that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
If you want to add 4th of July Lake add a few more miles to the total hike. Going into the lake is downhill which of course means you must go uphill to return to the original loop trail.
Awesome trail!! Hiking counterclockwise was a good choice to get the steeper, rockier portion done while our legs were still fresh. We saw a group of butterflies migrating past Round Top. Also we were fortunate to experience a group of 3 Swiss alpine horn players performing on the shore of Lake Winnemucca. The echoes off the face of Round Top were really something!!
