If you are in Sequoia National Park and you want to move your heart muscle a bit, this is your route. Relentless climb of 700 meters of elevation gain that takes you from Wolverton to Heather Lake. The route begins by taking the Lake Trail, then you can choose between the Watchtower Trail and the Hump Trail, both will take you to the lake area. You can also do one on the way out and the other on the way back. We only did the Hump Trail. Once at Heather Lake you can continue two more miles to Pear Lake. During the route you can enjoy some very beautiful panoramic views, even come across a family of black bears as we did, but you will not find giant sequoias. For that you will have to take some of the spectacular trails that run through the Giant Forest. If you are camping at the Lodgepole Campground you can start the route from there, whether you go to Wolverton or if you go to the Giant Forest to visit General Sherman. We did the route that takes you from Lodgepole to the Giant Forest and then to the Big Trees Trail and it was an unforgettable experience (unfortunately I accidentally deleted this route from the app).
