Itinerary description
The trailhead is about 2 miles up from the junction of 285 when driving from Española to Abiquiu. It's at the left hand side of the road, and recognizable by a cattle gard, a US Forest Service sign, and an indicator for trail 6. It's an easy hike but very rewarding because there's gorgeous views of the Sangre de Christo and Taos mountains, especially on the way back out. It's also really interesting terrain to hike. Recommended. If you have spare time, drive up to Abiquiu, gas up, and have the super green chile stew at Bode's.
