Itinerary description
2 full days of hiking to complete this stage of South Downs Way which is difficult to do as day hikes due to lack of public transport.
Left Winchester at 11am on Wednesday and arrived at Amberley at 11ish on Friday, so two days and two nights, carrying tent etc in backpack.
Overall, I felt quite disappointed with this section of the trail, and not enough WOWs given the effort. Maybe not so bad for hikers heading east, the best’s yet to come, but for those heading West, I’m sure that it would feel quite disappointing given what’s come before. It didn’t really feel like the SDW until way past Exton.
Had its highlights though and Old Winchester Hill, Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Harting Downs stand out.
