Itinerary description

Coming from Taos, drive to and through Questa. 2-3 miles beyond Questa is a road going West (left) to the Wild Rivers Recreation Area. There's a sign; can't miss it. From there, it's another 13 miles to the Visitor Center and nearby La Junta, Little Arsenic, and Big Arsenic trail heads. La Junta was closed when I visited. I took Little Arsenic down to the Rio Grande, and then walked left to the confluence with Red River. Then I walked back, past Little Arsenic, all the way to the Big Arsenic springs and the petroglyphs that are a bit beyond the springs. I then retraced my steps and headed back up to the Little Arsenic trail head. This turned out to be a harder hike than I had anticipated. It was a really warm day and that might have something to do with it. Whichever way, I really loved it and deserve a big burger, tonight!
