Itinerary description
Wild Boar Fell and Swarth Fell loop from Aisgill — Yorkshire Dales National Park
An 18-kilometre, 700-metre loop up and around beautiful Wild Boar Fell and Swarth Fell from Aisgill in the Eden valley. A beautiful, beautiful day for it. Full on gorgeous scenery of the Yorkshire Dales ❤️.
This is a super nice walk along the Eden Valley from Aisgill Farm, so there is no public parking at the farm. The paths are easy to follow for most of the way. The hike up from the B6259 along the Pennine Bridleway to High Dolphinsty Pass is particularly nice, with fine views. The walk over to the indistinct summit of Little Fell and back does not take that long, and then it is onwards to The Nab and Wild Boar Fell with its trig pointed summit. Fine views are to be had all the way, especially if you have a lovely sky blue day. After this, there is a pleasant, long undulating walk to Swarth Fell, and then a long decent back down to the B6259. At the bottom, the route rejoins the valley path back to Aisgill Farm. Here you cross Hell Gill Beck where you can see gorgeous Hell Gill Force waterfall. At 8 metres high, it is pretty impressive. It does not take long to get back to the start point.
Parking: As this route started at my holiday accommodation, you will have to find an alternative start point with parking along the route.
Route Description: Good paths in the main, a few boggy places, but mainly distinct paths that are good for hiking. The views of Wild Boar Fell from the Pennine Bridleway are particularly lovely.
Route Statistics: 18 km with 700 metres of height gain done in 5 hours, 30 minutes.
