Itinerary description
Across fields to Bramham.
This is a linear tour from Whinmoor to Bramham, although it could be done in the reverse direction.
The country hiking starts at Mirycarr Lane on Thorner Lane. Coming from Leeds, the number 7 bus from Leeds to Harrogate stops opposite this lane, and there is a bus stop by the lane for buses going back to Leeds. The number 7 stops in Bramham for a return journey back to Leeds.
I found the first part of this lane a bit muddy, but the rest of the route was fine.
The route goes over an abandoned branch rail line to Thorner and then follows the path of the old line along an embankment. Later the route goes through the grounds of Bramham Estate (famous for the horse trials.) There are no hills to climb or descend. Views are over open fields. It is a fast tour.
I found the route straightforward and only went wrong once, but I soon realised my mistake. It is a well-trod route, so follow the footprints!
