Beautiful trail. Wheeler Peak is an impressive Mountain that is impossible to miss as you start this trail at about 10,000 feet. It starts off rather easy with a gentle slope. At times we had a hard time following the trail but that was because of snow. It had snowed the night before we tackled this mountain. After a few miles the gentle climb ends and it becomes quite steep. It can be slow going at times in the snow. However, the scenery is almost magical when covered in snow. At the top 13,000+ feet it feels like you are on top of the world. on are summit event the sky was filled with clouds drifting around the peak and sharp clifts. This made for a very dramatic view of the mountain. If it wasn't cold I would have loved to stay up there for several hours. I would warn people that this is a high mountain. Pay attention to your body and if you start to feel sick slow down or even turn back. You don't want to suffer from altitude related problems up here. It would not be easy to get help up to you.
