Itinerary description
There is a fire tower on a hill on the south coast of Wendigo Lake, and an unofficial trail going up to it, starting at a gravel road. The trail is quite nice and rewards you with a great view. The path leads through dense forest and over big rocks, with some moderately steep sections included. It seems to be somewhat actively maintained. We encountered 3 fallen trees blocking the path that we had to crawl under, but other than that the path was always visible and not too overgrown.
Parking is available at the lake, at the end of the north branch of the "Bayly 3 Concession" road. The trail itself starts at the end of the south branch of that road, but don't go down the south branch with your car - that part of the road is not made for cars, it is full of big rocks and quite steep in some places.
I recorded this trail on my way back from the tower, so the recording is in reverse.
Don't expect to be able to climb the tower itself. The ladder is damaged and it looks unsafe.
