Wattled Crane Route - 22km

Starting at the Old Cheese Factory go straight down towards the Welcome Gate of Flitwick Ranch, passing Jean and Rozelle's home. At the fork at the end of this road turn right and continue all the way down the main road. After about 4.5km you will see a sign on the left side of the road that reads "Thanks for Visiting" just next to this sign, to the left, there is a gate. Continue through this gate straight onto a dirt road.

Past this gate you will encounter one more gate before you find yourself walking alongside the dam. At this end of this short road you will reach another gate. At this gate, turn left moving away from the dam. From here on you will continue straight on this road. For the next couple of kilometres you will find yourself walking on this same road next to the Upper Franklin Vlei. Keep an eye out for birds and several species of buck.

Eventually you will reach a dam wall. Continue straight over the dam wall. After passing a couple of gates you will eventually find yourself making your way onto another farm. Follow this road until you reach another gate that takes you off the farm and onto different main road. Continue straight where you will make your way onto another farm. Once again following this road and crossing gates all the way until you reach a gate that goes onto a district road. This gate has a sign that reads "Welcome Diamond Vlei".

At this gate, turn left onto the district road and continue straight for about 4km. Here you will reach the entrance to another farm. Turn left avoiding the farm entrance and onto a very bumpy road that continues straight. You will follow this road walking between two farms. You will reach a gate. Past this gate continue straight until you reach another gate. This gate will be two large gates joined as one. This gate takes you back onto Flitwick Ranch. You will continue all the way down this road until you find yourself back at the "Welcome Flitwick Ranch" sign. At this sign, turn right heading back down to the Old Cheese Factory.
