Itinerary description
A short, let's get a little exercise hike.
August 2023. Starts at a Forest Service parking lot off of Tripoli Road. Parking requires a weekly or annual or senior pass or you can purchase a daily one there on a honesty basis ($5). Toilets are available.
We walked slightly uphill on the gravelled Livermore Road until seeing the sign "Big Pines 0.2 (miles)" on the left. We took that. I would say this is more a path worn down by moderate traffic than a trail. Lots of roots to trip over if you walk with braces or a cane. The path dead ends at a stream. There are about a dozen really large pine trees there.
On the way back we diverted a little bit on the Boulder Path to see the big boulder in a stream. Getting close to the parking lot we decided to get there by taking the Deep Woods trail. Sort of in-between a road and a trail, it's much nicer than the road.
When leaving remember that Tripoli Road is across the bridge.
