Itinerary description
Depuis la route C22, entre Otjiwarongo et Okakarara, prendre la route D2512 (piste en terre) vers le Waterberg. Après 17km environ, prendre à gauche la piste en direction du Waterberg Rest Camp. Dans le parc, suivre la route pavée qui monte en direction des lodges. En haut, prendre à gauche et se garer sur le petit parking proche de la fin de la route.
From the C22 road, between Otjiwarongo and Okakarara, take the D2512 (gravel road) to the Waterberg. After 17km, turn left on the track towards Waterberg Rest Camp. In the park, follow the paved road that goes up towards the lodges. At the top, turn left and park on the small car park near the end of the road.
Cotation CAS = T2
Pas de grosses difficultés mais bien suivre le balisage dans la montée car elle se fait au milieu de blocs rocheux et le sentier n'est pas toujours très bien marqué.
SAC rating = T2
No big difficulties but follow carefully the signs in the way up because it is in the middle of boulders and the path is not always very obvious.
Au fond du parking, suivre le sentier avec le balisage en forme de pied. Lorsque le sentier commence à longer la falaise, il devient encombré de blocs rocheux et plus difficile à suivre. Bien repérer alors le balisage.
Au bout d'une demi-heure environ, on rencontre un sentier à droite venant directement des lodges. Prendre à gauche puis remonter dans un défilé qui permet d'atteindre le plateau.
Le point de vue se trouve une centaine de mètre à gauche une fois atteinte la limite de randonnée sans permis.
Pour le retour, descendre directement vers les lodges, puis suivre la route pavée pour retrouver le parking de départ.
From the car park, follow the path with the markings in the shape of a foot. When the trail begins to follow the cliff, it becomes cluttered with boulders and harder to follow. Follow carefully the markup.
After about half an hour, there is a path on the right coming directly from the lodges. Take on the left and then go up in a canyon that reaches the plateau.
The view point is a hundred meters to the left once you reach the limit of hiking without a permit.
For the return, go down directly to the lodges, then follow the paved road to find the parking of departure.
