The Water of Leith route is a beautiful route that runs along the entire bank of the river, until it empties into the Forth estuary, in the port of Leith.
This route is suitable for everyone, since it has no slope and the path is very good.
At all times there are informative signs that guide you to the end.
The first part runs through an impressive forest, but paved at all times.
In the second part you have to pay attention since when we get to the city we have to cross several roads.
On this route we will pass through a lot of places such as forests, gardens, cemeteries, rugby fields and different towns, among which Dean Village stands out.
At this point we decided to take a short walk to take a couple of photos and enjoy this old town, which is why the route may seem to get lost.... We invite you to spend a few minutes looking at the town.
The route consists of 20km from the beginning to the end, but if you sleep in Edinburgh you can cut it short, since the second half runs through the outskirts of Edinburgh and you can take a bus to take you to the center.
In our case we did the whole thing taking the 44 bus that passes by the Scott monument among other places. We got off at the High school stop because the route starts nearby, but the town of Balerno is surely worth a visit. Once we arrived at the port of Leith, we took another bus to go to the center.
